JOB DETAILS:
Duties
• Ambassador’s Protection Detail (APD) Specialists are responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for the conduct of foreign policy. Specialists are responsible for protecting the Chief of Mission (COM) and designated official visitors from physical harm and embarrassment. Perform defensive and offensive driving responsibilities in armored vehicles (AVs) and/or non-armored vehicles. Specialists must be familiar with Zambian driving laws, regulations and cultural norms, as well as all USG regulations pertaining to motor vehicle operations. Specialists must hold a valid Zambian Driver’s License, maintain a satisfactory driving record, and immediately report any vehicle accidents or traffic infractions to their American supervisor. Specialists must remain current in their knowledge and implementation of defense driving tactics and abide by Drive-Cam policies.

Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:
• EXPERIENCE: A minimum of two years’ experience in the security field, civilian or government police or military, or professional/commercial driving is required.
• JOB KNOWLEDGE: A knowledge and understanding of the practical principles, theoretical principles, and tactical operations of a personal security detail and a good working knowledge of standard protective services security equipment is required. Some knowledge of host-country operational environment, language, law and security entities, and historic criminal and terrorist threats and operational tendencies are required.Education Requirements:
Completion of Secondary School or Local Mandatory Schooling and received high school diploma
Evaluations:
• LANGUAGE: English Level III (Good Working Knowledge) speaking/reading/writing is required. (This may be tested)
Level III (Good working knowledge) speaking ability of at least one of the widely spoken local languages.SKILLS AND ABILITIES: A valid driver’s license is required. The ability to use a firearm is required. Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of applications. Level 1 keyboard/typing and basic PC skills are required. Must be able to work independently and adapt to changing circumstances without requesting guidance. Must have strong organizational and observation skills.
