Our client in Lusaka, Zambia, is looking for an Academic Director (History and Arts focus) to join the team for a job vacancy within the Academic industry
Job Summary:
• The Academic Director with a focus on History and the Arts plays a pivotal role in providing academic leadership, guidance, and strategic direction within the senior leadership team of the educational institution. This position is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and evaluation of the school’s History and Arts curriculum, ensuring academic excellence, and contributing to the overall success of the school.
Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development:
• Lead the development and enhancement of the History and Arts curriculum, ensuring alignment with educational standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with teaching staff to create engaging and rigorous instructional materials.
Professional Development:
• Provide leadership in the design and implementation of professional development programs for History and Arts faculty.
• Stay informed about advancements in educational pedagogy, curriculum design, and teaching methodologies.
Academic Performance Monitoring:
• Analyze student performance data in History and Arts subjects, identifying trends and implementing strategies for improvement.
• Work closely with teachers to address academic challenges and promote student success.
Assessment Strategies:
• Implement and oversee assessment strategies, including exams and projects, to evaluate student progress and achievement.
• Utilize assessment data to inform curriculum adjustments and instructional decisions.
Collaboration with Department Heads:
• Collaborate with department heads in History and Arts to foster a cohesive and collaborative teaching environment.
• Facilitate regular meetings to discuss curriculum, instructional strategies, and student outcomes.
Community Engagement:
• Engage with parents and the community to communicate academic initiatives, student achievements, and curriculum updates.
• Foster positive relationships with stakeholders to support the school’s academic mission.
Budget Management:
• Work collaboratively with the Principal and the senior leadership team to manage the academic budget.
• Allocate resources effectively to support the implementation of History and Arts programs.
Strategic Planning:
• Contribute to the development of the school’s strategic plan, particularly in areas related to academic excellence in History and Arts education.
• Provide input on the overall educational direction of the institution.
Qualifications:
• Master’s or Doctoral degree in Education, History, Arts, or a related field.
• Previous teaching experience in History or Arts subjects.
• Administrative certification or licensure.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in curriculum development and academic administration.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and team-building skills.
• Knowledge of educational policies, standards, and trends in History and Arts education.
• This position plays a key role in shaping the academic experience for students and contributing to the overall success and reputation of the school.
