JOB DETAILS:
Manufacturing, Lusaka, Zambia
• We are in the business of Manufacturing Extruded Polystyrene Foam Food boxes and Trays (disposable food packs) based in Lusaka, Zambia, and are seeking to hire a Senior Technical Production & Maintenance Manager who must possess vast mechanical and processing knowledge with the ability to handle technical machines related to the manufacture of this product such as Extruders, Thermo Forming Machines, Cutting and Recycling Machines etc.

Job Description
§ To manage and improve production, execute machinery maintenance, inspection, shut-down/ turn-around activities, and projects for the entire plant.
§ To ensure the quality of the product is up to the required standards.
§ To continuously improve and ensure workflow efficiency in maintenance and inspection.
§ Supervise and evaluate the performance of production personnel (machine operators, workers etc.)
§ See to the Mechanical Maintenance of the entire plant in line with the Business Plan and Strategic Plan.
§ Monitor spares and consumable inventory and ensure optimized inventory levels, while maintaining control of cost
§ Plan and execute day-to-day maintenance jobs for all equipment in close coordination with Manufacturing
§ Strive and plan for continuous improvement of production
§ Plan and coordinate major plant shutdowns and annual turnarounds
§ Lead and coordinate investigations of machinery break-down and participate in the identification and implementation of corrective actions
§ Coordinate planning and execution of major projects and process modifications
§ Ensure application of best maintenance practices across the plant, and continuously improve maintenance standards
§ Be able to work night shifts on a rotational basis
§ Assist in providing inputs and participating in developing a Strategic Plan for the area of Engineering and Maintenance in line with the overall Business Strategy of the company.
§ Prepare and provide all reports relevant to Maintenance. Provide clear and factual information always.
§ Supervise and manage personnel of Maintenance and provide adequate guidance to all personnel.
§ Ensure effective cooperation/ coordination with other departments, namely Manufacturing as well as central functions
§ Manufacturing skills, ensure effective integration and participation of the Maintenance department in major projects as well as in day-to-day process improvement activities to maximize utilization of available resources across departments.
§ Continuously improve standards and ensure productive quality control

Candidate Specification
Experience
5 years plus
Education Level
Degree or Diploma

Qualifications
• Mechanical Engineering; with at least 5 – 10 years of experience specifically in the process/manufacturing of Extruded Polystyrene Foam Food boxes and Trays.
• Equipment
• Be fully conversant with operating and maintaining all machinery utilized in the manufacture of this product including auxiliary equipment such as booster pumps, cooling towers, chillers, compressors etc.
• Knowledge Of
• Manufacturing of this specific product and have previous experience therein;
• Other Requirements
• Experience in other plastic polymer manufacturing industries is an added advantage.
