Job summary:
The position of technologist is to support the development, maintenance, and improvement of solar energy systems. This position will involve hands-on approach to ensuring the efficient operation of the system by conducting thorough inspections, performing routine maintenance, and troubleshooting issues.
Reporting to: plant engineer
Key responsibilities will include:
• Perform varying corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance for solar pv system components on the plant;
• Perform onsite installations, repairs, and troubleshooting;
• Apply root cause analysis techniques on all major and recurring faults;
• Participate actively in investigation of technical failures and prepare formal technical reports;
• Record keeping and management of spare part movements;
• Carry out plant operations;
• Interact with stakeholders on a professional level as part of a multi-tasking team;
• Install, maintain, and repair renewable energy equipment, including solar panels and wind turbines, ensuring they operate efficiently and safely;
• Calibrate and adjust equipment settings to optimize energy production and minimize energy loss;
• Collect and analyze data on energy production and consumption to assess system performance and identify areas for improvement;
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with energy systems, employing diagnostic tools and techniques to restore functionality;
• Educate customers and clients on energy-saving practices and the benefits of renewable energy sources;
• Design and implement energy management systems to monitor, control, and optimize energy usage; and
• Performs any other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
Minimum qualifications and experience
• Grade twelve (12) certificate;
• Diploma in electrical engineering;
• At least four (04) years post qualification experience;
• Aged between 25-35 years old;
• Must be a member of the engineering institute of zambia; and
• Knowledge of the energy sector is an added advantage.

Skills
• Knowledge of solar technologies;
• Reading and interpreting electrical diagrams and schematics accurately for installation, repair, and maintenance;
• Ability to understand operational parameters and interpret diagnostic data accurately; and
• Adherence to regulations to prevent accidents.
Tenure of employment
• Three (3) years fixed term contract.
