Provincial Health Office, Western Province in conjunction with US Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has been implementing programs to improve the management of TB, STIs and HIV/AIDS care services in the Province since 2006. To further strengthen the programs, WPHO is inviting applications from interested persons in Western Province under Ministry of Health who meet the minimum requirements to fill the above vacant position on contract basis subject to renewal:
LOCATION: Provincial Health Office

JOB PURPOSE: To Coordinate CDC supported laboratory activities in westem province, provide technical assistance to laboratory staff and contribute to the achievement of the UNAIDS 95-95-95 goals and CDC set goals under the laboratory domains.
REPORTS TO: Clinical Care Specialist

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY (MAIN DUTIES)
• Under takes supervision in districts to ensure quality service provision Supervise both technical and non-technical staff and ensures operational adherence to laboratory guidelines.
• Undertakes Monitoring of clients on ART through VL/EID.
• Maintains records and statistical reports for program monitoring and decision making Coordinates specimen courier from facilities to the testing labs and results from the PCR labs to facilities
• Facilitates availability of updated Laboratory guidelines, SOPs and algorithms are in place at all times so as to ensure adherence to National guidelines
• Identification of areas for capacity building for laboratory staff and other health workers Works with data associates to ensure timely collection of data from laboratories compiling and analyising the findings for decision making Plans and prepares activity budgets.
• Contributes in the development and implementation of operations budget to ensure compliance with organizational expenditure requirements.
• Monitors and offers technical support in the implementation QMS activities in order to improve quality of Laboratory service
• Coordinates with other implementing partners in ensuring that QMS programs are adhered to. Supervises Technical staff to ensure HIV/TB/STI commodity security

JOB SPECIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
• Grade 12 certificate with at least five O-level credits:
• Degree in Biomedical Sciences
• Registration with Health Professions Council of Zambia with valid practicing license. At least five (5) years relevant experience in TB/HIV Programme in laboratory services
• Must be trained in WHOART Modules, logistics and supply Experience in PEPFAR supported TB/HIV programs will be an added advantage
• Trained in Project management will be added advantage
• Ability to write technical papers and reports clearly in English
• Ability to communicate fluently in English and local languages
Must between the Age of 21 years and 55years

Overall Job Purpose

• Setup, calibrate, certify, maintain and troubleshoot weighbridge systems.
• Any other tasks as may be delegated by the supervisor.

Background
Innovation: Africa (iA) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose team of dedicated problem solvers work together to bring solar and water technologies to rural communities in Africa in need living in rural African villages. We use solar energy to pump clean water and provide schools, orphanages, and medical clinics with light and refrigeration to store vaccines and medicines. iA has completed over 600 solar, water, and agricultural projects, providing light, clean water, food and proper medical care to nearly 3 million people in Ethiopia, Tanzania, Malawi, South Africa, Uganda, Cameroon, Senegal and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly trained and qualified individual to join our Zambia team as a Field Hydrogeologist to work in Eastern Province. This position works under the supervision of the local Project Manager and is responsible for overseeing geophysical surveys, drilling of boreholes, technical implementation of iA solar water pumping systems, liaise with local solar water contractors and in-house engineers, as well as providing technical support in all projects. The Field Hydrogeologist will also be responsible for all iA field activities, including identifying and selecting the beneficiaries of our projects, actively engaging in community mobilization and sensitization, establishing and maintaining regular communication with the communities we serve, implementing project-related activities, providing regular reports and ongoing monitoring of the projects. As this is predominantly in-the-field work, candidates should expect frequent travel to the field to identify new projects, oversee the construction and implementation of ongoing projects, and monitor completed projects.

Local Project Manager & Country Director in Israel

Responsibilities
• Oversee and lead activities related to the supervision, data capturing and analysis of all stages of the implementation of iA solar water pumping systems
• Work closely with the local contractor to plan and implement all solar water pumping systems
• Manage on-site work during all stages of the system construction and installation that is: geophysical survey, borehole drilling, installation and water distribution points
• Supervision of geophysical survey, drilling, development of the borehole, yield testing and water quality analysis from initial testing through to final reporting
• Independently assess needs for maintenance work (post-installation) in projects where a malfunction exists
• Maintain regular contact with Innovation: Africa’s engineers in Israel to successfully implement and monitor new solar technologies and remote monitoring systems
• Continually monitor the progress of ongoing field installation and maintenance activities
• Conduct community technical trainings and sensitization to all iA water and system beneficiaries on water management for water and agricultural use
• Appropriately sensitize the communities we work with, including establishing project steering committees to maintain the project
• Support the Project Manager to manage relationships with municipal officers, local leaders, and international stakeholders
• Send daily updates and regular progress reports to international management team regarding prospective projects, construction and implementation of current projects, and monitor existing projects
• Research and implementation of best survey techniques & practices and borehole drilling & development equipment in all iA projects

Qualifications
The ideal candidate is a dedicated team-player with strong interpersonal skills and a background in solar powered water systems. Applicants must have competitive experience in community development and mobilization, as well as experience working with international stakeholders. The candidate must demonstrate a proven passion for working with the community and possess strong detail orientation and problem-solving skills.

Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree or professional diploma in Geohydrology or closely related field
• At least 10 experience supervising borehole drilling and borehole development
• Experience supervising drilling and borehole development in NGO focusing on community development projects
• Technologically oriented with excellent computer skills, including proficiency in email and Microsoft Office software
• Driver’s license
• Ability to commit to flexible working hours
• High proficiency in English; both writing and speaking
