Job description:
Purpose
The Local Business Development Coordinator is responsible for driving growth initiatives focused on local business partnerships and community engagement. This role requires a deep understanding of the mining sector, local regulations, and community needs, enabling the company promote sustainable development

Key Responsibilities
This position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.
• Conduct regular and comprehensive market analysis specific to the mining industry, identifying trends, regulatory changes, and potential business opportunities within the local community.
• Support the commercial department in establishing, reviewing and improving the local content policy.
• Establish and nurture relationships with SMEs, local businesses, suppliers, government agencies, and community organisations to promote collaboration and local sourcing initiatives.
• Lead community outreach initiatives, including informational sessions, community consultation, and engagement activities to foster positive relationships and gather stakeholder feedback.
• Stay informed about local regulations, permits, and compliance requirements related to mining operations, ensuring all business development activities adhere to legal standards.
• Assist the Commercial Department in identifying key local opportunities and facilitating introductions to potential clients.
• In coordination with Commercial Department and end-users, conduct vendor assessment study, match locally available supplies and services with company’s needs to optimize local sourcing.
• Identify gaps in capacity of local businesses and provide technical and administrative assistance to build their capacity in coordination with public institutions and business associations.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and execute business development strategies that align with corporate goals and community sustainability initiatives.
• Prepare and present reports on local business development activities, stakeholder engagement, and market insights to management.
• Develop metrics, process data and set KPIs to measure improvement over time.
• Any other duties as directed by Superiors empowered to exercise authority over him/her.

Qualifications
• Minimum Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Economics or a related field.

Experience
• 3-5 years of experience in business development, community relations, or related fields, preferably in the mining sector.
• Familiarity with rural communities in Northwestern province is an asset

Skills
• Strategic thinking and problem-solving capacity tailored to the mining industry.
• Strong networking and relationship management skills, particularly in local community contexts.
• Adaptability and resilience in a dynamic work environment.
• Passion for sustainable development and community-based initiatives.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Operational Requirements
The Local Business Development Coordinator will work in an office setting with occasional field visits to mining sites and community locations. The role may require travel within the region for meetings and community events
