Job description:
Purpose
To safely execute maintenance and installation work according to prescribed standards.

Key Responsibilities
Adherence to Policies and Regulations
• Adhere to all pertinent requirements, policies, procedures, and legal requirements pertaining to health, safety, environment, and quality, as well as any other regulations as necessary by the company and relevant to the role and responsibilities.
Execution of Daily Tasks
• Execute daily tasks as directed by the Direct Supervisor. Tasks include but are not limited to, the following:
Installation
• Install new electrical systems, and replace old, faulty, or redundant electrical systems as per the company and vendor’s safety and quality specifications.
Electrical Protection
• Ensure that all electrical equipment has the correct hardware interlock and safety parameter settings for effective and safe operation.
Maintenance
• Adhere to the company’s planned and preventative maintenance schedules and procedures.
• Effectively maintain the electrical equipment with minimal effect on plant production.
Reporting and record-keeping
• Report all incidents immediately to the supervisor.
• Ensure that all safety and substation logbooks are checked and signed according to the procedure.
Stock Control
• Ensure that stock levels of electrical equipment are maintained in the warehouse and report all defective or substandard equipment to the direct Supervisor.
Tools and Audit
• Maintain the correct and safe usage of all hand tools within your section.
• Report all defective tools, record, and control all replacement of tools.
Training and Development
• Identify the need for specialised training requirements within your area.
Transport
• Ensure no person operates any equipment without an official driving permit.
Other Duties
• Perform any other duties as directed by the Direct Electrical Supervisor.

Qualifications
• Minimum of a Grade 12 Certificate.
• Electrical Craft Certificate.
• Provincial Driving Permit for LMV.
• EIZ & ERB Membership/Registration.
Experience
• Minimum five years’ experience in a mining environment working as an Artisan.
• Knowledge of LV systems, MCCs, and protection.
• Knowledge of LV and MV transformers.
• Knowledge of electrical motors.
• Maintenance of overhead cranes.
• Knowledge of maintenance and programming of VSDs, soft starters, and DOL starters.
• Good knowledge of the use of electrical measuring instruments.
• Ability to read electrical drawings.
• Computer literate.
• Experience in power distribution systems will be an advantage.
• Maintenance of generators and power plants.
• Experience with Siemens Gearless Mill Drives.
• Experience in ABB ACS MV & LV drives.
