Career Opportunities
The School of Medicine and Health Sciences of the University of Lusaka is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following Full-time positions:
Nurse Tutors and Lecturers in the Nursing Department (Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program)

(1) Lecturers in Nursing Sciences (2)
– Master of Science in Nursing (Midwifery would be an added advantage)
– Bachelor of Science in Nursing
– PhD in Nursing will be an added advantage
– At least five (5) years’ experience of lecturing at tertiary level
– Must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Zambia (NMCZ)

Summary of Job Responsibilities:
– Teach the assigned courses
– Develop and improve course outlines and teaching materials
– Prepare lesson plans at the start of each semester
– Supervise and mentor students in the clinical area
– Supervise students undertaking project work
– Carry out administrative responsibilities and participate in quality assurance processes

Key Qualities and Skills:
– Self-motivated and resourceful with strong intellectual ability
– Ability to research and create new knowledge
– Goal-oriented and a team player

(2) Clinical Lecturer (1)
– Master of Science in Nursing
– Bachelor of Science in Nursing
– At least two (2) years’ clinical experience in the specialized discipline
– Must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Zambia (NMCZ)

Summary of Job Responsibilities:
– Provide orientation for students to clinical sites
– Support faculty in developing objectives and competencies
– Review student portfolios and tailor activities
– Monitor student progress and ensure objectives are met
– Serve as a role model and mentor for nursing students
– Facilitate interactions with healthcare professionals at clinical sites
– Complete final student placement evaluation and report concerns

Key Qualities and Skills:
– Self-motivated and resourceful with strong intellectual ability
– Ability to research and create new knowledge
– Goal-oriented and a team player

(3) Lecturers in Natural Sciences
– Biology
– Mathematics
– Physics

Basic Requirements:
– Postgraduate qualification – Master of Science in Natural Science, Physics or Biology
– First degree – Bachelor of Science in Natural Sciences (BSc) or equivalent in Mathematics, Physics or Biology
– PhD in the above disciplines is an added advantage
– Minimum of two to three (2-3) years teaching/research experience
– Certificate, Diploma in Teaching/Lecturing Methodology or Degree in Education is an added advantage
– Registration as a Science Specialist with the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ)

Summary of Job Responsibilities:
– Teach the assigned courses
– Develop and improve course outlines and teaching materials
– Prepare lesson plans at the start of each semester

Key Qualities and Skills:
– Self-motivated and resourceful with strong intellectual ability
– Ability to research and create new knowledge
– Goal-oriented and a team player

(4) Lecturers in Basic Medical Sciences
– Anatomy
– Pathology
– Physiology
– Pharmacology
– Biochemistry
– Parasitology

Basic Requirements:
– First degree – Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science, Health Sciences, Medicine or equivalent
– Master of Science or equivalent in Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Medical Immunology and for Clinical Pathology (M.Med (Path), MRC Path or equivalent)
– PhD in the above disciplines is an added advantage
– Minimum of two to three (2-3) years teaching/research experience
– Certificate, Diploma in Teaching/Lecturing Methodology or equivalent is required
– Registration as a Science Specialist with the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ)
