Job description
Miranda Foods and Logistics Zambia are inviting suitably qualified persons to join our team as Truck Driver. The successful incumbent will be allowed to advance their career in the transportation and logistics industry.

Responsibilities
The following is expected of the incumbent:
(1) General Duties
• Operate commercial trucks, tractor-trailers, or delivery vehicles to transport goods or materials between stipulated locations in strict adherence to the traffic laws, regulations, and safety standards stipulated in The Highway Code of the Republic of Zambia, i.e. speed limits, weight restrictions, etc.
• Plan routes and logistics for efficient and timely delivery, considering factors such as traffic conditions, weather, and delivery schedules.
• Attend training sessions, safety meetings, and professional development programs to enhance driving skills, knowledge of regulations, and compliance with industry standards.
• Follow company policies, procedures, and safety protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Maintain good health standards and undergo routine screenings set by company policies and other regulations to ensure safe and optimal performance on duty for the employee, his/her colleagues and other parties relevant to their role.
(2) Safety and Hygiene
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to check for mechanical issues and safety hazards in compliance with our safety regulations.
• Monitor vehicle performance and maintenance needs, reporting any mechanical problems or defects to maintenance staff for repair and servicing.
• Maintain good hygiene standards of trucks, cabs, and trailers by conducting routine cleaning and maintenance procedures set by the company to ensure optimal working conditions.
(3) Cargo Management
• Adhere to the loading, transit management, and unloading of cargo guidelines stipulated by the company and manufacturers of goods to ensure secure handling of goods to prevent damage or loss.
• Check load stability periodically during transit and adjust as necessary.
• Ensure proper load distribution.
(4) Administrative Duties
• Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery activities; completing logbooks, trip reports, and delivery documents as required.
• Handle paperwork and documentation related to shipments, such as bills of lading, delivery receipts, and shipping manifests, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Communicate with dispatchers, shippers, and customers to coordinate pick-up and delivery schedules, update delivery status, and promptly address any issues or delays.
• Provide excellent customer service to clients and customers through clear, polite, and concise communication to address inquiries, resolve uprising issues, and ensure satisfaction with company services.

Qualifications Required:
• High school Certificate (GCSE in English and Maths) or equivalent; additional certifications or training in commercial driving is preferred.
• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements (Class C1, Class C1E and Class C) and clean driving record.
• Proven minimum experience of 5 years as a truck driver or commercial vehicle operator, with knowledge of safe driving practices.
• Experience with GPS navigation, mapping, and route planning.
• Physically fit with the stamina needed to handle long hours of driving, loading, unloading cargo, and performing manual labor as needed.
• Ability to carry out basic tasks on a computer or hand-held device.
