JOB DETAILS:
The Accounts Assistant will provide support to the finance department by ensuring the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions. This role is critical in maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and assisting in the overall management of the company’s financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Record Keeping:
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including invoices, receipts, and other financial documentation.
• Record transactions in accounting software and ensure proper categorization.
2. Accounts Payable and Receivable:
• Process supplier invoices and prepare payment schedules.
• Monitor accounts receivable, issue invoices to clients, and follow up on outstanding payments.
3. Bank Reconciliation:
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and consistency of financial records.
4. Payroll Assistance:
• Assist in preparing payroll by calculating employee wages, deductions, and statutory contributions.
• Ensure timely remittance of taxes and other payroll obligations.
5. Financial Reporting:
• Prepare periodic financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Assist in budget preparation and variance analysis.
6. Audit Support:
• Provide documentation and support for internal and external audits.
• Implement corrective actions based on audit recommendations.
7. Compliance:
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, and internal policies.
• Maintain proper documentation for tax filings and statutory returns.
8. General Support:
• Provide support to the Finance Manager and other team members in financial decision-making.
• Handle petty cash and other ad hoc financial tasks as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience: At least 2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a healthcare or logistics environment.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or similar).
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Knowledge of Zambian tax laws and statutory compliance.
• Personal Attributes:
• High level of integrity and attention to detail.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Proactive and able to work independently or as part of a team.
