Its recent programming areas include nutrition, agriculture, food security, HIV/AIDS, WASH, financial inclusion, and early childhood development.

Background:

The Food and Nutrition Security, Enhanced Resilience (FANSER) project is an initiative of the “One World No Hunger” under GIZ for the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation. The project aims to improve the food and nutritional situation of 110,000 vulnerable women of reproductive age as well as 64,000 children under the age of two. CRS currently operates in 3 districts of Eastern province (Katete, Sinda, and Petauke) and 3 in Luapula province (Mwense, Mwansabombwe, and Kawambwa) but has expanded operations in Sinda and Mwansabombwe districts. The project will support the following:
• Increasing dietary diversity for women of reproductive age, adolescents, and children under the age of 2 years.
• Increasing behaviors related to WASH in all nutrition activities.
• Strengthening gender integration.
• Improving household access to food available from within their communities.

Job Summary:
The primary responsibility of the Health and Nutrition Field Supervisors is to provide technical support and supervision to the Health and Sanitation Promoters in the implementation of health and nutrition, and water, sanitation and hygiene activities using the Care Group Model. The Field Supervisor will primarily be field-based supporting the conducting of training and rolling out of the Care Group Model and providing oversight in the supervision and monitoring activities related to the Care Group Model.

Job Responsibilities:
• Help develop selection criteria for Health and Sanitation Promoters and/or Nutrition Volunteers.
• Participate in the selection of Community Health and Sanitation Promoters that will be enrolled on the project to supervise Nutritional Volunteers.
• Train/coach Health and Sanitation Promoters in essential nutrition actions and other health, hygiene, and nutrition topics using the Care Group and community-led total nutrition Model. Also conduct refresher trainings for Health and Sanitation Promoters.
• Supervise Health and Sanitation Promoters who will in turn supervise Care Groups consisting of Nutrition Volunteers that support the benefiting households.
• Verify and aggregate data collected by Health and Sanitation Promoters.
• Conduct accompanying supervisory visits to each Health and Sanitation Promoter at least once per month providing constructive feedback to ensure the quality of services.
• Review and adapt/adopt health, hygiene, and nutrition messages for beneficiaries through Health and Sanitation Promoters and/or Nutrition Volunteers.
• Collect, synthesize, and enter data (NV, reports) into the database and share reports for M&E from Health and Sanitation Promoters and Nutrition Volunteers.
• Support Health and Sanitation Promoters in conducting community-wide health, hygiene, and nutrition events.
• Ensure linkages/synergies and coordination between agriculture, income/assets, gender, WASH, and health/nutrition program technical components.
• Participate in community and ward-level health, nutrition, and water, sanitation and hygiene related coordination meetings, including WNCC.
• Support and mentor CLTN committees as they support communities in implementing selected actions under CLTN.
• Work with Gender Animators to ensure involvement of both men and women in the nutrition program.
• Collaborate with SILC Supervisors to ensure participation of target beneficiaries in SILC groups.
• Ensure linkages with traditional heads in the project interventions for sustainability purposes.
• Participate in all capacity-building processes for Health and Sanitation Promoters.

Education and Experience:
• Must be a Sinda resident.
• Minimum of a Diploma/Certificate in public health or nutrition.
• Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in health, hygiene, and/or nutrition activities or a related technical discipline, with at least 1-year experience in a technical capacity with an NGO.
• Training in health or nutrition with experience in community development will be considered.
• Previous experience in health behavior change for improved household nutrition is desired.
• Experience working with health facilities.
• Demonstrated ability to work with tight schedules and with minimum supervision.
• Knowledgeable about essential nutrition actions, growth monitoring and promotion, pre- and post-natal care, child health, and behavior change methodologies.
• Strong analytical, facilitation, and coordination skills, especially those in rural communities.
• Ability to transfer knowledge through trainings.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; knowledge of local languages preferred.
• Ability to work in a team with people of diverse backgrounds and cultural settings.
• Demonstrated ability to work within communities, while being sensitive to gender and local customs.
• Clean record on child protection and domestic violence related issues.
• Must be able to ride a motorbike for extended periods of time.
• Willingness to be based in the field and travel to visit health promoters, Care Groups, project beneficiaries, and partners as needed.
