Job description:
To develop and deliver comprehensive training programs, coaching, and mentoring to operational personnel, enhancing their skills and knowledge in mining operations, safety, and equipment operation.
Specific Job Responsibility
• Training Needs Analysis: Identify training gaps and develop tailored programs to address operational needs.
• Training Delivery: Facilitate on-the-job training, workshops, and classroom sessions for operational personnel.
• Coaching and Mentoring: Provide one-on-one guidance, support, and feedback to operational personnel.
• Curriculum Development: Design, review, and update training materials, manuals, and procedures.
• Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct assessments, evaluate training effectiveness, and provide feedback.
• Safety and Compliance: Ensure training programs align with regulatory requirements, company policies, and industry best practices.
• Promote a culture of safety by coaching supervisors to prioritize and enforce safe work practices.
• Ensure supervisors are equipped to conduct risk assessments and maintain compliance with all regulatory and site-specific safety standards.
• Participate in incident investigations and help supervisors learn from and apply corrective actions.
• Collaboration: Work with operations teams, supervisors, and other stakeholders to ensure training aligns with operational objectives. Group Job Code/Level:

• Collaborate with supervisors to optimize daily operations, ensuring alignment with production and safety targets.
• Assist in troubleshooting operational challenges and developing practical, efficient solutions.
• Support the implementation of best practices in equipment usage, workforce allocation, and process improvements.
• Performance Monitoring:
• Evaluate supervisor performance through observations, key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Work with supervisors to develop actionable plans for improving team productivity and morale.
• Provide detailed coaching progress, operational improvements, and ongoing challenges to senior management.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for improvement and implement changes to training programs.
• Relationship Building:
• Foster strong working relationships with supervisors, operators, and management to facilitate effective communication and collaboration.
• Act as a bridge between frontline supervisors and senior leaders to ensure alignment on goals and expectations.
• Reporting and Feedback: Maintain detailed records of training, evaluations, and operational performance. Provide feedback to supervisors and management regarding personnel development and operational improvements Job Specific Competencies (knowledge/ skills required for job success)
• Availability: Willingness to stand-in for a coordinator/superintend, work flexible hours, including overtime.
• Physical Demands: Ability to work in a mining environment, with exposure to dust, heat, and noise.
• Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of mining processes, equipment, and techniques.
• Leadership: Ability to inspire and mentor teams while maintaining high standards of performance and accountability.

Experience required to perform in this job
• 5+ years of experience in mining operations as a supervisor, with 2+ years in a training or coaching role.
• Understanding of mining regulations, safety protocols, and equipment operation.
• Drilling and blasting: understating of drilling and blasting with a blasting license is an added advantage.
• Proficient in MS Office, familiar with mining software (e.g., MineSight, Surpac).
Qualifications
• Full Grade 12 Certificate
• Degree in Mining, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Teaching methodology certification, training facilitation certification, or equivalent.
• All certificates must be certified by ZAQA
